Given the rapid developments in experimental particle and astroparticle physics and the high rate of new ideas on how to search for new physics or how to test the predictions of the Standard Model in innovative ways, it would be shortsighted to restrict the research profile of the RTG strictly to the previously mentioned topics. We therefore allow to complement the research projects of the RTG with new but highly promising projects. It is certainly required that new projects fit in the overall scientific philosophy of the RTG as well as its qualification program. Decisions on the inclusion of new research ideas to the RTG will be taken by the steering committee, after evaluating a written proposal. An external evaluation on the feasibility of a new project might be requested. One example is the ongoing development of a super-conducting cavity for the search of axion-like particles.
