The research of the RTG will pursue detector developments in three key areas: photon-based detectors, ultra-fast data processing and reconstruction and high performance detectors. All three are essential elements of the next generation of detectors that will be required to answer the fundamental questions posed by modern particle physics:
What are the properties of neutrinos? This will be investigated by the experiments ANNIE, JUNO, DUNE, IceCUBE and Project-8. | Can precision measurements or rare-decay searches point us to limits of the Standard Model? This will be probed by the Mu3e, the MuonEDM and the ATLAS experiment as well as BESIII and future colliders |
Are there new weakly interacting particles? Answers will be given by the XENON, MAGIX, IAXO, SHiP and DarkMESA experiments. |
